They say AMPUTATION. Here at PACE, we say, Second Opinion!

It's a terrifying moment for people who have been diagnosed with PAD, especially those who are contemplating amputation. They frequently don't know where to turn. That's when Dr. Odiete enters the picture. He recently spoke out about the necessity of gathering as much information as possible and getting a second opinion in a recent interview.

“I aim to educate every patient I encounter not just about their condition, but also about their treatment decisions and how we can collaborate together to address their specific issues. When it comes to peripheral artery disease (PAD) or any other vascular condition, there is no one-size-fits-all solution, and I seldom recommend amputation.

Before getting there, I exhaust all other possibilities. Many doctors, on the other hand, think that amputation is the best option. This is attributed to the complicated nature of PAD and other vascular diseases, which need a high level of skill and knowledge in order to effectively treat them.”

Dr. Odiete is a comprehensive specialist in cardiovascular disease  and has a passion for Critical Limb Ischemia.  His goal is to save LIMBS.

“These are some things that amaze me is when a doctor tells someone that their lower extremity needs to be amputated, and they go ahead and get it done without seeking a second opinion.

Their doctor will prescribe that course of therapy because they believe it is a wiser choice to many operations when the fact is that PAD may be successfully treated with minimally invasive methods on an appropriate treatment in many situations.”

Many of the procedures we do at PACE are life changing.  Patient’s need only advocate to keep their limbs and seek a second opinion.  Doing so can give you back the quality of life you have been missing due to leg pain and PAD.  This  is a life where we keep all the limbs!
